Story:
This is a Fair Trade, organic certified, SHG EP grade coffee from over 8 thousand small producers from Chiapas and working directly with Exportadora De Cafe California (ECC). ECC was founded in 1941 in Tapachula, Chiapas and directly focuses on bringing sustainable and environmental practices to the coffee industry and farmers. The strong influence of indigenous groups and cultures has long been the driving force behind smallholders' embrace of organic practices, as they are often in line with traditional growing philosophies and utilize similar if not the same techniques. Fair Trade has also done considerable work with regard to encouraging smallholders to organize and operate within cooperatives, which allows them to pool resources providing better economic options.
We are excited to bring this offering to you to fit our "Cielito Lindo" slot. We named it after the ever popular, endearing Mexican folk song. Our cofounder, Alicia, is from Mexico, and her middle name, Donaji, comes from a legendary Oaxacan Princess of the Zapotec people.
Through this coffee, you are teaming up with Elevate Coffee Trading to sponsor Teacher Appreciation & classroom resources for select Dallas ISD schools in an area of high Hispanic and Bilingual demographics, paying tribute and appreciation for the founder's heritages with a portion of the proceeds!
